Inspiring Change - Facilitators Event in Africa

While capacity building in professional fields like PM&E has been growing over the last years, only few efforts have been made to develop the capacities of facilitators of longer term change processes. Nevertheless, professionals in developing countries have gained significant experience in facilitating different multi-stakeholder processes.

Some partners of the Change Alliance and PSO foundation (ICCO, Hivos, Cordaid, SNV, and CDI) have taken up this call for professionalisation, because they highly acknowledge the need for skilled facilitators who are able to navigate complex change processes. This need was also acknowledged by African facilitators who want to share their experiences and learn from each other about their work.

Together, these organisations have planned an expert meeting. The aim of this expert meeting is to bring together experienced process facilitators in Africa, synthesise their experiences on and methods for Multi-Stakeholder Process (MSP) facilitation and draw lessons from it. Furthermore the meeting aims to build a network of facilitators, which will enable facilitators and organisations working with MSPs to continue capacity building and knowledge sharing in the future.

For whom? Experienced African process facilitators (individual consultants or facilitators that work for NGOs)

When? October 4-6, 2010

Where? Nairobi, Kenya

A preparatory meeting is planned to be held in Nairobi in June 2010.
